What is ethical communication and how can it be achieved?
Well, that depends who you ask. Everyone has a different perspective of what constitutes ethical communication. In my opinion, ethics are not concrete, and the ethical way to respond or act depends on the situation at hand. I surveyed my classmates and they all responded differently to the above-referenced question. Below are their answers:
Transparency.
Knowing that you have an obligation as a person to be honest about personal and professional experiences. Even when those experiences could possibly have a negative effect on you or a loved one.
Truth in intent and truth in consequence.
Honest, transparent and up front information.
Disclosing information honestly and openly.
Honest, straight forward communication.
Open, honest communication that sensitive to surrounding cultures, values, races, religions and disabilities.
Speak unto others as you would have them speak unto you.
When the receiver has been given timely, accurate, useful information without deception. This communication leads to win-win situations, rather than promoting only one interest.
Accuracy, integrity, and duty.
Being honest and providing accurate information to stakeholders.
Utilitarian perspective.
